2018 Board Leadership Announced


Dr. Dale Heuer, 2018 Chair

Dale K. Heuer, M.D., has been named chair of the American Board of Ophthalmology for 2018. Dr. Heuer has served the ABO as a director for seven years, participating in the Finance, Conflict of Interest, and Oral Examination Committees. He is professor and chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he is also the director of the Eye Institute. Dr. Heuer earned a medical degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, completed residency training in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and pursued a glaucoma fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

Dr. Bhavna Sheth, 2018 Vice Chair

Bhavna P. Sheth, M.D., MBA, was elected vice Chair of the American Board of Ophthalmology. A director of the ABO for six years, Dr. Sheth has been deeply involved in the development and administration of written assessments and presently chairs the Written Examinations Committee. Dr. Sheth holds the title of professor of ophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the Medical College of Wisconsin and is chief of the Comprehensive Ophthalmology Service. She completed her medical degree and residency training at the Medical College of Wisconsin and earned an MBA through the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
